The material for the heavily riprapped
bank and levee is reported to have come from the Rio Grande Canal
Company (RGCC) quarry. which is nearby. The RGCC was apparently
the entit.y that. managed construction with SCS funding. The
diversion structure for the Rio Grande Canal is located
approximately 1 mile north east of the site. The headgate of the
Del Norte Town ditch is located at the upstream end of the CAT.
Leakage through the embankment near the headgate was observed
during the inspection.

Erosion over approximately a length
of the bank has removed from 2 to 5 feet
the top of the levee.
