the transmission line between the existing intake and the existing

water treatment plant. The line size for the low growth scenario

is 8-inch, whereas the line size for the high growth scenario is

12-14 inch. The main element of uncertainity is the unknown status

of the Adams Rib ski area. If it proceeds, the high growth scenario

is almost assured.

It is for this reason that the project is divided into two

phases based on the low growth scenario. The first phase, scheduled

to be under construction in 1978 is to be sponsored by the Farmers

Home Administration (FmHA). This first phase is for the total of

$258,000 and inVOlves the construction of a 500,000 gallon buried

concrete reservoir and a new 12-inch transmission line to connect

the new reservoir to the existing 12-inch transmission line.

The second phase is scheduled to begin construction early in

1979. It is anticipated that this phase would be financed through

the Colorado Water conservation Board in the amount of $250,000.

The improvements include inproving backwash facilities at the exist-

ing water treatment plant, replacing undersized distribution facil-

ities, and increasing the fire-flow capacity.

RECOMMENDATION AND PRIORITY

The residents of Eagle are currently faced with water shortages

during peak-demand periods and with inadequate fire-flow capacity

even during normal usage periods. The proposed project would solve

these problems.

-4-

2426
