It is <br />intended to accompany your Bureau's preliminary report. <br /> <br /> <br />This report has been prepared in cooperation with the Colorado <br />Division of Game, Fish and Parks in accordance with the provisions <br />of the Fish and Wildlife Coordination Act (48 Stat. 401, as amended; <br />16 U.S.C. 661 et seq.). Although ge~eral concurrence in the report <br />is indicated by the enclosed copy of'a letter dated August 28, 1969, <br />signed by Director Harry R. Woodward of the Colorado Division of <br />Game, Fish and Parks, particular exception is taken by the Division <br />to Recommendation No.2. The Division recommended that 2,200 acres <br />of State-owned school lands for the wi Idlife management area be ar.- <br />qui red with project funds. This is contrary to the proposed project <br />authorization which provides that construction of the project shall <br />not be started unti I the State of Colorado agrees that it wi I 1, as <br />its participation in the project, convey to the Unites States ease- <br />ments and rights-of-way over lands owned by the State that are <br />needed for wells, channels, laterals, and wildlife refuge areas, as <br />identified in the project plan. <br /> <br />The purpose of the project is to establish a well-defined channel <br />for a portion of the Rio Grande.
