I
I
I
I
I
I
I
I
I
I
I
I
I
I
I
I
I
I
I

2658

4. proiect Map

Figure I-A shows the Ute Mountain Ute Reservation relative
to the Four Corners Monument, the city of cortez, the city of
Duran90, and the City of Farmington. The Dolores Project
facil~ties are shown in the left hand ~ortion of the map. The
land to be irrigated by the Tribe ~s shown in the middle
left-hand portion of the figure. The entire reservation land
area is held in trust for the Ute Mountain Ute Tribal members;
there are no inholdings of private or allotted land.

Figure 1-8 shows the land to be irrigated relative to
Towaoc. There will be about B,OOO acres of land under sprinkler
irrigation. The irrigated area has been separated into six
blocks, designated as: 1000, 2000, 3000, 4000, 5000, and 6000.
The blocks are shown on Figure I-B. The proposed route of the
primary road, the Aneth Road, from Towaoc to the lands is shown.

This report will describe the on-farm facilities needed to
irrigate the land and the infrastructure (roads and power lines)
necessary to operate the on-farm facilities; however, only funds
for the on-farm facilities is being requested at this time.
Alternative sources of funds are being pursued for the
infrastructure, but if the other funding sources are unavailable
SRPA funds maybe requested at a future time.

The on-farm facilities will include: sprinkler systems
(field laterals, center pivots, siderolls, nozzles, valves,
etc.), land preparation (land leveling, land smoothing, rock
removal, soil preparation, etc.), headquarters complex (office,
shops, warehouse, potable water, sewage disposal, secure
compound, etc.), product storage, and farm equipment. The
infrastructure will include the Aneth Road, service roads to
each sprinkler, and primary and distribution power lines.

The Tribe's municipal water will be delivered to the City of
Cortez water treatment plant, where the water will be treated
under a contract between the Tribe and Cortez. From the Cortez
treatment plant the water will be conveyed by a 12 inch diameter
Ductile Iron pipeline, about 20 miles, to Towaoc. See Figure
I-C. Improvements will be made to the Towaoc municipal water
distribution system so that essentially all of the homes in and
around Towaoc will receive potable water for the first time.
The pipeline from the Cortez treatment plant and the
improvements to the Towaoc water system are included as part of
this application.

8
