Only a project IFR may demand the release of stored water, and
must specifically declare a reservoir as a control reservoir if it is to draw water from that reservoir.

4.4.2 Water rie:ht date: Required. This establishes the priority of the IFR's right to

the water.

4.4.3 Reauirement table: Required. A table of monthly values giving the required
flow at the station.

4.4.4 Namefdescriotion: 4O-character maximum. Not used by the program, but
displayed on the reports for the benefit of readers not familiar with the station numbering.

4.5 Diversions
Diversions may occur at any station, and there is no limit to the number of diversions which
may occur at anyone station.

4.5.1 Diversion identification: Required. Each diversion uses a unique tag (in the
form Dnnn) which then shows up on the reports.

4.5.2 Name/descriotion: 4D-character maximum. Not used by the program, but
displayed on the reports.

4.5.3 Diversion ~e: Odd numbers are for project water rights, even numbers are
for natural water rights. HYDROSS uses only the oddfeven distinction, but the code shows up on the
reports to indicate the general nature of the diversion:
,1,2 Irrigation
3,4 Municipal
5,6 Industrial
7,8 Other

4.5.4 Water rie:ht date: Required. This establishes the priority of the diversion's
right to the water (the type of water is determined by the diversion type in paragraph 4.5.3
[page 26]).

4.5.5 Suoolemental water rie:ht date: Optional. Permitted only for natural diversion
types which will be allowed to supplement their natural rights with stored water, this is the project
water right date for the supplemental water.

4.5.6 Canal efficiencv table: Required. This is a table giving the canal efficiency (in
percent) for each month. The percentage value (converted to a fraction) multiplied by the gross
diversion (flow leaving the stream or reservoir) gives the site delivery (flow arriving at the site of
use). The difference between the gross diversion and the site delivery is called 'canal loss' , and is
available for return to the system.

.,.1' (0, nel;.,,,"') ()rC..{< {J d.,U',.,~ It
(' 'I' (I '
'\-i \OD'~, 0\\ or'I,,~'S 0...-1- d\...a..r::jD~ t

al\ r,\"u, -t" <J..l"-""'
""A\c......
