Stage Two Completed Activities

- membrane lining a 7-mile section of the Highline Canal

- replacing open ditch laterals with 52 miles of pipeline

- Reclamation and the MCID/PID Boards have executed an O&M contract for
salinity improvements within their systems. Under the Salinity Control Act,
Reclamation is required to contract with a non-Federal entity prior to initiation
of construction.

- Initial habitat replacement lands were acquired in 1988. An O&M contract for
the lands was signed with Colorado Division of Wildlife, The FY 1990
program includes additional land acquisition and also habitat development.

- To date, completed construction activities for Stage Two have resulted in an
estimated annual salinity reduction of 20,600 tons resulting in a total reduction
for the Grand Valley Unit of 42,500 tons. .
