002135

r:

2.1.7 Stoeber Lane Bridge

Concern:

L

The Rio Grande is cutting a new river bed, and debris is
forming upstream of the Stoeber Lane Bridge which could result
in damage to this bridge.

Findings:

Approximately 100 feet along the south bank upstream of
the bridge has been eroded. Continued high water will
jeopardize the bridge abutment. The Corps of Engineers may be
able to do a Section 14 project at this site but it would take
about 15 months just to get the paperwork approved. Approxi-
mately 156 cubic yards of riprap are required,

,.
N
g
"

Cost Estimate:

For riprap and reshaping - $8164

"Reconunendation:

~ ,

The south bank should be regraded on a slope no steeper
than 2' 1/2 to 1 and protected with riprap before next spring.
This p~oject should qualify for state emergency disaster funds.
;t.>

I

~
t-

47
