001983

percentage of each county in the basin (determined by GIS) was multiplied by the rural population
and summed to achieve a basin-wide rural population for each year (Table 8).

The per capita gross usage for each type of use (urban, rural, commercial and public) can be provided
by the user (and thus, allowed to vary) for each sub-basin, also a different consumptive use ratio can
be used for urban and rural consumptive use. The values used for this task memo were obtained
from USBR, 1991, as shown in Table 9.

Consumptive use values were obtained by multiplying the basin-wide population totals (Table 10) by
the sum of urban or rural, commercial, and public gross usages and multiplied by the consumptive use
factors. The results are shown in Table II.

2.5 Mineral Resource

Mineral resource consumptive use is reported by the United States Geological Survey for 1985 and
1990 in the Dolores and San Juan Basins. The values for 1986 through 1989 were obtained by linear
interpolation between the 1985 and 1990 values. The values reported for mineral resource
consumptive use for the years 1985 and 1990 can be obtained from the USGS world wide web page
at http://h2o.er.usgs.gov/puhlic/watuse. Table 12 shows the mineral resource CU values.

2.6 Thermal Electric

The USGS did not report any thermal electric power plants in the Dolores and San Juan River Basins.
The (USBR, 1991) reported power plants located in HU14010005 and HUl 405000 I , which are outside
the Dolores and San Juan River Basins.

2.7 Export (Transmountain Diversions)

Transmountain diversions data are obtained mainly from the Annual Report of the Division of Water
Resources, Water Division 7 for the water years 1985-1990. Table \3 shows the different diversion
structures where diversions are recorded for the years 1985-1990. The diversion records are available
in a total volumetric amount for each year. The total volume of exports is shown in Table 14.

2.8 Fish and Wildlife
The USGS and the USBR do not report consumptive use for fish and wildlife uses in this basin.

2.9 Recreation
The USGS and the USBR do not report consumptive use for recreational uses in this basin.

2.10 Results

Table 15 shows the six-year average annual CU for the different non-irrigation categories. The total
average annual CU for the non-irrigation categories is 176,269 acre-ft. The details of the results of the
calculations are shown in Section 5.0: Supporting Materials.

11.26.96

3

12.09-13 IDS/CSU
