<br />'L <br /> <br />Table 1 <br />Executive Summary <br /> <br />o <br /><::> <br />N <br />;-'. <br />Ci:J <br />t-' <br /> <br />Chapter IV <br /> <br />Recommendations on the necessity for additional Floodway management legislation at local, <br />tribal, state, and federal levels. <br /> <br />Issue <br /> <br />Necessity for additional <br />Floodway management legislation <br />at local, tribal, state, and <br />federal levels. <br /> <br />"'. <br />" <br /> <br />Recommendations <br /> <br />Local communities and counties should (a) adopt amendments to' <br />their flood plain management regulations to provide for the <br />Colorado River Floodway and its provisions consistent <br />with the recommended regulation amendments of the Task Force <br />and (b) incorporate where appropriate the Task Force's <br />recommendations for improved flood plain management <br />planning and coordination. <br /> <br />Indian tribes for the five reservations along the lower <br />Colorado River should (a) adopt flood plain management <br />regulations, including the recommended regulation amendments <br />of the Task Force to provide for the Colorado River Floodway, <br />and (b) incorporate, where appropriate, the Task Force's <br />recommendations for improved flood plain management planning <br />and coordination. <br /> <br />The Congress should request that all federal agencies <br />for which further Floodway and related activities have <br />been recommended in this report to confirm or identify <br />needed authorizations and appropriations to carry out the <br />recommended actions. To assist in identifying needed <br />authorizations and appropriations, it is recommended <br />that the Secretary of the Interior's report to the <br />Congress on the Floodway and on the report of the Task <br />Force also identify, to extent possible within the time <br />for which the report of the Secretary is to be filed, <br />such needed federal authorizations and appropriations. <br />This information would be used for the development of <br />recommended fOllOW-Up federal Floodway legislation. <br />
