<br />SIR: This is my proposed report on the Closed Ba.."in Division of the
<br />San Luis V alley project, Colorudo. It is ba..qed on nnd includes the
<br />nttnched report of the Hegional Director dated July 196:3, as revised
<br />January 29 and February 26, 1964, and the appended reports of
<br />the Bureau of Sport Fisheries and Wildlife and the N ationsl Park
<br />Service.
<br />The works proposed for the Clos('d Basin Division, San Luis Valley
<br />projt'ct, would Sllh-Ugll shallow ground waters now nonbenefieially
<br />('onsumed in the Closed Basin. This ba.-,,;;in is on the northeast side
<br />of the Rio Grunde in Saguache und Alamosa Counties in south-
<br />central Colorado. The proposed development would snlvage all
<br />fivernge of about 101,700 nere-feet annually of good quality 'yater
<br />which is now being lost by evaporation or consumed by salt. grass,
<br />rabbit. brush, greasewood, nnd other nonbeneficial vegetation. Of
