The Fish and Wildlife Service is at present aoquiring <br /> <br />lands in the area to the south of Monte Vista. Colorado. in further <br /> <br />developing the migratory waterfowl refuge program. Plans call for <br /> <br />the aoquisition of up to 15.000 acres in this projeot. with some <br /> <br />3.500 acres of orop and pasture and 2.500 aore,s of ponds. Preliminary <br /> <br />engineering data indicate 18.000 aore-feet of water will be our <br /> <br />minimmn annual requirement for an effeotive management program. <br /> <br />Water rights and shares to water will be available with the lands <br /> <br />" <br /> <br />to be aoquired.
