This program, Which will result in quantitative and qualitative <br />analyses of the groundw.ter resources in the area is scheduled for comple- <br />tion Ja:rmary 1. 1950. The findings from these investigations will ~rovide <br />the data required for proper integration of uses of ground and sur1'ace <br />water resources and. the deteminat10n of reservoir storage capacity required <br />on the Rio Grande for regulation of stream flays for irrigation in the Rio <br />Grande Division. <br /> <br />. <br /> <br />A report on the activities of the 5ureau in the San Luis Valley during <br />the past several years 8S requested also 1s given in the following paragraphs. <br /> <br />The San Luis Valley Project was author! zed under Section 9 at the <br />Reclamation Act of 1939. The findine of feasibility was approved by the <br />Secretary of the Interior on April 10. 1940, and transmitted to the Congress <br />on the same date. On June IS, 191K>, the Con&resB first appropriated funds <br />Ilfor further investigations. exploratory and preparatorr lIIIOrk and commence- <br />ment of construction. ..u (Act of June 1S, 1940, Ch. 395. 54 Stat. ~6). <br />.Activities of the Bureau, by project divisions. are as follows: <br /> <br />I.
