<br />MANAGEMENT <br />PRESCRIPTIONS <br /> <br />Management prescriptions denote how <br />blocks of land within the park will be <br />managed in the future. These are strategic <br />in nature and are established through the <br />general management planning process. They <br />set a broad framework for the human use of <br />parklands, providing for a variety of visitor <br />experiences, ever mindful of the Service's <br />commitment to preserve parklands for future <br />generations. <br /> <br />Management prescriptions (known as <br />prescriptions) are common to all alternatives <br />and provide direction for specific areas of <br />land within a park. Prescriptions articulate <br />management for an area of land considering <br />visitor experience, access, natural resources, <br />cultural resources, facilities, and <br />maintenance. Prescriptions combined in <br />different ways identify the alternatives and <br />are shown on each alternative's map as well <br />as being described in the text. <br /> <br />50 <br /> <br />Each alternative represents a different theme <br />for management and is based on the purpose, <br />significance, and management objectives <br />outlined in the park's statement for <br />management. The prescriptions consider the <br />capability of lands used to support identified <br />uses as described within each resource <br />opportunity area. They provide a framework <br />for further site-specific planning and <br />management decisions on the use and the <br />protection of resources. Prescriptions have <br />been tailored for use in Curecanti NRA and <br />Black Canyon NM. <br /> <br />I <br />I <br />I <br />I <br /> <br />I <br />I <br />I <br />I <br />I <br /> <br />The prescription concept includes four land- <br />based (primitive, semi-primitive <br />nonmotorized, motorized rural and <br />, <br />developed), three water-based (semi- <br />primitive free-t1owing t1atwater, semi- <br />primitive t1atwater, and t1atwater), and two <br />special (scenic easements and protected <br />resource area) management prescription <br />areas.
