Cumulative production through 1975 exceeded

52 million barrels of oil and 441 MMcf (12,488 MM cu m) of gas. In

1975, production was 791,107 barrels of oil and 21,972,957 Mcf (621,683 cu m)

"--- "., '"22
of gas.

Most of the county's 30 fields that are productive, shut in, or

abandoned, are concentrated in the. eastern end of Moffat County (the

Monument is in the western part). Of the fields scattered across the

southern part of the county, the closest to the Monument is Elk Springs

field, about 8 miles (13 km) southeast of ~he eastern end of the Monument.

Along the northern border of the county are numerous fields; the

nearest of these to the study area are Hi~watha West and Sugar Loaf,

both about 15 miles (24 km) from Browns Park.

Records show that Moffat County oil and, gas fields produce from as

many as eight horizons and that the deepest stratigraphic production

zone is the Weber Sandstone. 23

21Information available upon request from U.S. Bureau of Mines, Fuels
Availability System DAta Bank, Intermountain Field Operations Center,
Denver, Colo.
2~010rado Oil and Gas Conservation Commission, Dept. of Natural Resources,
1975 Oil and Gas Statistics. 1976, p. 71
2~01orado Oil and Gas Conservation Commission, Dept. of Natural Resources

1975 Oil and Gas Statistics. 1976, pp. 65-71. \

,.

,

f!
I

I

r
