Ooce) '/. .

..

Reclamation, Fish and Wildlife Service, and National Oceanographic and
Atmospheric Administration), and private entities (irrigation districts,
city water departments, consulting firms, and environmental groups).

Table 2 lists the data known to be available from the above sources.
Additional data requirements for the daily water supply analysis are
L~~U~~~u. The definition of trave~ times and river reach gains and
losses require river channel hydraulics for the river reaches between
gaging stations. River channel hydraulic data are being collected for
the Platte River Channel Morphology Study.

Biologists and species experts have and are continuing to collect
species habitat information. The baseline species use data is being
collected on a continuous basis in order to develop and verify species
habitat models. The data needs and data acquisition required by species
to complete an evaluation include the following:

1. Whooping crane.

a. Roosting - IFIM modeling (habitat suitability curve update
and verification).

b. Feeding - Wet meadow hydrology data collection and
invertebrate inventory.

2. Least tern and piping plover.

a. Nesting - Collect physical site data on used and unused
nesting sites in the Lower and central Platte.

b. Feeding - Collect data on foraging habits and types of fish
and invertebrates on which is being foraged.

3. Update and develop fisheries habitat analyses.

a. Forage fish in Central Nebraska - Update IFIM model using
best suitability curves and apply temperature modeling to
determine fisheries requirements.

b. Develop other fisheries and bald eagle habitat requirements
on North Platte and South Platte drainages where needed to
evaluate project operations.

4. Stream icing analysis for bald eagle winter feeding habitat.

5. Riparian habitat maintenance for summer nesting and wintering
bald eagles.

12
