The opportunity exists to discuss <br />and further modify this approach as the study progresses. <br /> <br />e. Current Activities <br /> <br />Activities to date include the development of species models for the <br />Platte River, modification of existing Platte River water operation <br />studies, study of Platte River channel morphology, and preparation of <br />threatened and endangered species list for the North Platte, South <br />Platte, and Platte Rivers. Current activities include the appointment <br />of and the organization of Reclamat~on and Service study teams to <br />complete the task outlined in this plan of study. <br /> <br />There is an ongoing joint Federal and state study activity called the <br />Platte River Management Joint Study (Joint Study) which is working in <br />cooperation with many interests to develop and recommend habitat <br />management plans for the Platte River while allowing water development <br />to proceed in the Platte River Basin. The Joint Study is separate from <br />this evaluation; however, information developed from the Joint Study <br />will be used in the evaluation. <br /> <br />II. study Particioants and Involvement <br /> <br />This study will be led by Reclamation in cooperation with the Service, <br />states, operating entities, and other interests. The technical work for <br />the evaluation is anticipated to be done by Reclamation's Great Plains <br />Regional Office, Reclamation's Denver Office, Reclamation's project of- <br />fices; and the Service's regional and field offices. Reclamation and <br />the Service will actively seek information from states, organizations, <br />and the general public. <br /> <br />The study teams will be responsible for developing, defining, and using <br />the best scientific information available to evaluate the existing <br />operations of Reclamation projects. <br /> <br />III. Study OraanizatioD and Manaaement <br /> <br />The study will be managed by the Reclamation's North Platte River <br />Projects Office in Mills, Wyoming. The study will be led by a study <br />manager under the direction of Reclamation's North Platte River Project <br />Manager located in Mills, Wyoming. A team approach will be used to <br />conduct the study with the technical specialists. A study coordinator <br />for the Service will be located in Grand Island, NebraSka, and will <br />coordinate the Service's study tasks. Offices expected to have <br />significant involvement in the study are shown in Figure 2 of the <br />organizational chart. <br /> <br />5 <br />
