Cost-sharing onfarm <br />salinity control <br />2, SCS for technical assistance, <br />monitoring, and evaluation <br />3. Information and education <br /> <br />$13,000,000 <br /> <br />$ 8,200,000 <br />$ 800,000 <br /> <br />$22,000,000 <br /> <br />TOTAL <br /> <br />In fiscal year 1991 the Congress provided $14.78 <br />million for work associated with the Department of <br />Agriculture Colorado River Salinity Control Program. <br />The President requested that the same amount be <br />appropriated in FY 92. However, studies by the <br />Department of Agriculture and the Colorado River Basin <br />Salinity Control Forum conclude that $22,000,000 is <br />needed in FY 92; $24,1000,000 is needed in FY 93; and <br />$26,600,000 in FY 94 if water quality standards are <br />to be maintained on the Colorado River. <br /> <br />There is strong interest and active participation <br />by farmers in the five areas where the program has <br />been initiated. Even a stronger commitment by farmers <br />to implement salinity control measures in the future <br />is demonstrated by the large number of pending <br />applications for participation, Irrigators in the <br />Uinta Basin area of Utah, the Big Sandy area of <br />
