Major sources of information would

be found via literature searches of water resource publications and

newspapers and via contacts with organizations such as the U.s. Geologi-

cal Survey, the Colorado Water Conservation Board, the Division of Dis-

aster Emergency Services, the Federal Emergency Management Agency, and

others.

The collected materials will be screened for the following three

types of data:

.Flood Characteristics - includes return period, peak flow, and

type, e.g. flash flood, dam break, etc.

.Damage Estimates - includes official valuations and less valid

newspaper and personal estimates.

.Assistance Payments - includes federal, state, and local payments.

These data categories will then be organized 'chronologically by year

and geographically by river basin. The scope of the coverage will be

determined by the quantity and availability of data. The goal would be

-3-
