,

OG2263

/

DRAFT
April 8, 1975

Municipal and Industrial Water Supply Study for the Towns of
Superior, Erie, Lafayette, and Louisville (Coal Creek Water and
Sanitation Association), Colorado.

Location

~
On the Coal Creek and South Boulder Creek drainages In

Adams, BOulder, and Weld Counties.

Problem

Population in the area seems to be increasing, with a

limited water supply. Shortages have already been ecnountered and

are expected to be more critical in the future. According to

population projections prepared by Rocky Mountain Consultants, Inc.,

the combined population of the four towns may be up to 50,000 by

the year 1990.

The Coal Creek area is located between the boundaries

of the Northern Colorado Water Conservancy District (which contrib-

utes COlorado-Big Thompson water to irrigation and municipal and

industrial users) and the service area of the Denver Water Board.

Neither the District nor the Board seems to have any excess water

for the Coal Creek entity. So there is no readily available water

supplier to which it can turn.
