the existing water supply is to construct two new wells north and

east of Nunn, along with a six-inch transmission pipeline from the

wells to the town. Also included will be new pumps, chlorinators,

a well house, and miscellaneous valves and meters, along with the

necessary electrical system to automate the pump operation. The

cost of this portion of the recommended improvements is approxi-

mately $145,000. Additional recommended improvements consist of

the construction of a second 50,000 gallon elevated steel water

tank at a cost of approximately $20,000. Also, additional water

distribution pipelines to improve service pressure and delivery are

recommended, which will cost approximately $65,000. The total of

all recommended improvements, including a contingency of 15 percent

and engineering and construction services, is approximately

$380,000.
RECOMMENDATION AND PRIORITY

The residents of the town of Nunn have a critical water

situation, mainly due to the presence of high nitrates in their

raw water supply. Also, they need additional water storage and

improvement to their distribution system. The town's rather lim-

ited financial means prevents them from financing this project on

their own. It is assumed that a combination of grant and loan

~onies will become available from federal agencies for 50 percent

~f the project. So the proposed financing will then be as follows:

-3-

2408
