These two poes:tbilitiss are <br />desirable ahd appear feasible. <br /> <br />Conductanoe measurements ,qore made of' water samples taken <br />from the five oompl:!.ng 9tatio~s whioh are arranged to permit sampling <br />at difforont depths. In general. samples of water t;nkon at about 75 <br />feet deep have I;ivon oonduotanoe readingll indicating water suitable <br />for credit under terms of the Rio Grande Conpllct. <br /> <br />.Il field draft of a reoonnaissance l'enor.c on this Division was <br />sent the Regional Direotor. Region 5, AJr;arillo~ Texas, on February 3. <br />1956. <br /> <br />Conejos Division <br />There WIIS no activity in this Division during the month. <br /> <br />General <br /> <br />The Stato Engineer of Colorado has made available $1000 for <br />Project uso on snow surveys during this Beason. Aooordingly survey <br />work started on February 27, 1956. <br /> <br />Preoipitation at Monta Vista durirlg the month was 0.15 inCh, <br />or 43% of tho normal of 0.35 inch. <br /> <br />The value of snow surveys to furners in this area has reoently <br />been emphasized to the Bureau. 'fhe daroh :I. forecast of stream flow <br />forms the ooeis of orollPing plans end thus the tlllllJl.ount of money sought <br />from the various loan agencies. The AP1'il 1 forecast oi' streatl flow <br />is oharacteristioally more aoourate than the '\larah 1 forecast. but the <br />farmers oannot wait unt:i.l April 1 to devolop their plans. ']'he aoctl.raoy <br />of the March 1 foreoast is sufficient for this purpose and evi.dently of <br />greater value than had previously been supposod. <br /> <br />\)\)\~~~ <br />
