<br />MOm.'IlLY REPORT <br />SAN LUIS VALLEY PROJECT, COLORADO <br />January 1956 ' <br /> <br />Rio Grande Division <br /> <br />The Supplemental Report on the Rio Grande and Weminuche Pasa <br />Div111ions waa sent to the Conunissioner during the month. <br /> <br />There was no work aocomplished 1'01' this Division during <br /> <br />January. <br /> <br />Closed Basin Division <br /> <br />During the month most of the lVork of Project forces was oon- <br />centrated on the preparation of a reoonnaissance report on the Division. <br /> <br />During the week of JanUllry 16 - 20, Mr. T. R. Cantlllo of 't,he <br />Regional Office was on the Projeot and assisted in the :l.llitial work of <br />preparing the report. <br /> <br />A field draft of the repert will be sent the Regional Director <br />on February 3, 1956. <br /> <br />Cone.1os Division <br /> <br />P1atoro Dam is closed for the wi.ntor with the valves remaining <br />open and paSSing the natural flow of the Conejos River. There is no <br />water in storage. <br /> <br />General <br /> <br />Snow surveys by Project forceo will not begin trotH 11arch 1, <br />1956. Reports of heavy anowfall in the mountains have been received dur- <br />ing January. U. S. Highway No. 160 has been clOlled for the past week <br />due to snow slidea near Wolf Creek Pass, where the highway Ol.'osses the <br />San Juan lIlountalna on the western side of t he San Luis Valley. <br /> <br />\)\)\~~~ <br />
