. I
.

-\,
O~uG8~

Inactive storage pools of 34,000 acre-feet in Pot Hook Reservoir

and 1,500 acre-feet in Savery Reservoir will be available as permanent

fishing and recreation lakes. Recreation facilities will be provided

at both sites. Rangelands below the project will be improved as wildlife

habitat to compensate for habitat lost through inundation of reservoir

basins and irrigation of new lands.

The project water supply of 51,500 acre-feet will come from rele~~es

, from the reservoirs and usable natural flows that will be diverted by

new and existing canals and ditches. New canals will include the Dolan

Mesa Canal heading on Savery Creek and the Pot Hook Canal heading at the

Pot Hook Reservoir. New lateral systems wi~l be constructed for full

irrigation of new lands. Drains will be constructed as needed.

The total stream depletion of about 26,600 acre-feet will be assigned

on the basis of 15,100 acre-feet for Colorado and 11,500 acre-feet for

Wyoming.

Some Federal and State land will be acquired to permit enlargement

of existing farms and some may be acquired to establish a few new farm

units.

Pro1ect Status

The Appropriation Act for FY 1971 contained $250,000 for the

initiation of project construction which'was written in and approved by

Congress and signed by the President. These funds, shortly thereafter,

were withheld by the Office of Management and Budget and have never been
.

released.

2

1

.
1
!
1
i
1

t
t
.

i
I
f
r

I

~
~
