<br />"', <br /> <br />OJJ:ilJ <br /> <br />Aprll 1971' <br /> <br />SUMMARY SHEETS <br /> <br />Yellow Jacket Project, Colorado <br /> <br />LOCATION <br /> <br />Northwestern Colorado 1n Vamp. and White River Basins of Upper Colo- <br />rado River Basin. <br /> <br />~ <br /> <br />The Yellow Jacket Project would regulate flows of the North Fork of <br />the White River and tributaries of Yampa River for municipal, indus- <br />trial, and irrigation uses. It also contains provi.ions to protect <br />and enhance segments of the environment and provide benefits to <br />recreation, flood control, and fish and wildlife conservation. <br /> <br />Water for municipal, industrial, and irrigation uses near Meeker, <br />Colorado would be developed through storage provided at the poten- <br />tial Ripple Reservoir on the North Fork and Lost Park Reservoir on <br />Lost Creek, a North Fork tributary. Some water would also be di- <br />verted to the Lost Park Reservoir from tributaries of Williams Fork <br />in the Yampa River Basin. The water would be conveyed from the <br />North Fork to delivery points through the Yello.... Jacket and Josephine <br />Basin Canals. Some of the municipal and industrial water would also <br />be available at the Yellow Jacket Diversion Dam. Terminal storage <br />to insure water during periods of freezing weather and facilities <br />for distribution and treatment of tbe municipal and induscrial water <br />would be provided by tbe water users. Irrigation distribution lat- <br />erals and drains would be constructed as needed. <br /> <br />Project lands in the Yampa River Basin or the Milk Creek 'eg=ent of <br />the project would be served by Milk Creek flows regulated at the <br />potential Thornburgh Reservoir. Tbe water would be conveyed to tbe <br />lands by tbe Milk Creek Canal and distributed by the Isles Lateral. <br />Jubb Pump Lateral. and smaller laterals as required. Drains v:Juld be <br />added as required. <br /> <br />Recreational development'would be provided at the three project <br />reservoirs. Those at Ripple and Lost Park Reservoirs in the White <br />River National Forest would be provided by the Forest Service to <br />accommodate 204.000 recreation visitations. including 71.900 man- <br />days of fisbing. Those at Thornburgh Reservoir would be provided <br />at project costs to accommodate about 40.000 recreation visitations. <br />including 18.300 man-days of fishing.
