ROOOCJ:: <br />STAFF <br /> <br />Durinq finanoial 1952-1953 the teohnical statf of the <br /> <br /> <br />Colorado Water Conservation Board consisted of the Chief <br /> <br /> <br />EnQineer and four technically qualified enqineers. In <br /> <br /> <br />additional the Board could call on occasion tor advice from <br /> <br /> <br />a consultinQ engineer, <br /> <br />In the period 19.1-.3 the enqineerinq statf averaqed <br /> <br />12 in number. By 19.6-.7 this tiqure had been reduced to 5 <br /> <br /> <br />where it remained until 1955-56. when an additional enqineer <br /> <br /> <br />vas added, and another in 1956-57, As the situation now stands <br /> <br /> <br />there are seven enqineering positions, one of which 1s vacant <br /> <br />on account of inability to secure a suitable replacement. <br /> <br /> <br />In the period 19.6 to 1955 this offioe was understaffed <br /> <br /> <br />and consequently unable to collect and analyze the surface <br /> <br /> <br />vater resource data of the state, especially the We.tern Slope. <br /> <br />in the detail that should have been employed, Under present <br /> <br /> <br />oircumstances .... have sufficient staff, with .o.e temporary <br /> <br /> <br />hiqh Qrade assistance in the summer, to keep abreast of surface <br /> <br />water developments in the State. <br /> <br />Under Section 12 of the Colorado Ground Water Law, 1957, <br /> <br /> <br />the .Colorado Water Conservation Board shall have the power, <br /> <br /> <br />and it shall be it. duty to investiQate and determine the nature <br /> <br /> <br />and extent of the underQround vater resource. of the state of <br /> <br /> <br />Colorado., By matchinq fund. with the U, S. Geoloqical Survey, <br /> <br /> <br />Ground Water Branch, the initial .urvey. are beinQ carried on. <br />
