The wate~reached Lake Alice during the night of April 23, and'
Lake Minatare through the High Line, on April 30; and through the Reservoir
Supply on A~ril 29th.

Water was delivered to the Lingle W~ter users and Hill District on'
May 1, which is in harmony with the contr~ct. The spring veS dry and windy,
therefore, the dem~nd for irrig tion water was earlier than usual. Water was
delivered to the w~terusers of the first and second lateral Districts on
April 30th; to the High Line waterusers May 2nd, to the Reservoir supply users
M,~y 4th and to the Low Line users M~y 9th,

The demand for water increased rapidly until May 9th when thc discharge'
at the head of the Main Canal r0ached 1865 second feet, There was only two
days in the year when the discharge reached 1900 second feet, one day in May
and the other in August,

~ater was delivered to the lands of the individual wator users on a
demand basis, each irrigable ~cre was alloted a certain amount and the ,vater
user was permitted to draw the water according to his own Jictates, And when
the per acre allotment was used, there was no ~ore water available for that
farm unit, This method was adopted for short water years, in order th~t each
water user could be the judge as to the time of irrig:.:ting,'and the amount )f
water to apply, for each of the different crops)n his unit, and thus get the
~eatest good from his water allotment.

The demand during the month of M~.y was ab"ut four times as great as that
of May 1938.

The total amount of water turned into the head of the canal during
the season was 427,870 acre feet of which 42,640 acre feet was delivered into
laterals for Lingle water users and Hill Lateral District, and 133,196 acre
feet was delivered t" the lands in the Pathfinder Irrigation District.

Of the total amount delivered to lanJs,

23% was delivered during the month of May
11% during the month,f June
24% during the m.nthf July
29% during the m:>nth )f august
13% during the ~'nth of Septe~ber.
