The
pump station would be located at the product clearwell within
the boundaries of the Desalting Plant. The pumps would force the
water through a pipeline conveyance system providing adequate
pressure for distribution. since the pumping plant would be
located within the boundaries of the Desalting Plant, the power
would be purchased by Reclamation and provided through
Reclamation's switchyarct. The composite rate for Reclamation
power is currently projected at about 35 Mills/kWhr. This
compares to City purchased power at about 67 Mills/kWhr.

CONSTRUCTION COSTS
As provided by Carollo a summary of the construction costs for
the delivery system of Desalting Plant features are shown below
in Table 6. The costs estimates were prepared in 1990 prices and
escalated to 1993 prices using 6 percent simple interest.

--'

TABLE 6
S~Y OF CONSTRUCTION COSTS - YUMA DESALTING PLANT ALTERNATIVE
DELIVERY SYSTEM AND PUMPING PLANT - 1993 DOLLARS
CAROLLO ENGINEERS
($1,000)

FEATURE 20 Mgal/d 30 Mgal/d 40 Mgal/d 70 Mgal/d
Delivery
Pipeline 2,042 11,247 4,032 13,489
Delivery
Pump Sta 1,500 2,100 2,600 4,200
Sub-Total 3,542 13,347 6,632 17,689
+ 20%
contingen. 709 2,670 l,326 3,538
+ 15%
Engr. & Ad 531 2,002 995 2,653
. ,"' , '" . ~';.r. , '.
Total Cost
Delivery 4,782 18,019 8,953 23,880

26
