To
record location of the repairs, stations were established along the crest of the dam,
beginning with 0+00 at the left abutment and increasing to about 8+25 at the right
abutment, and offset distances were measured' relative to the upstream edge of the
crests. The elevations of the bottom of the sinkholes were estimated using a hand level
and the reservoir gage rod on the upstream face of the embankment. The sinkhole
locations and elevations are summarized below.

.ttl tfl-- '-- ifJ. 1M ii.2
Station: :t 7 + 15 :t4 +12 :t3 + 75 :t 1 + 87 :tl+77
Distance: :t 120' U.S. :t 160' U.S. :t 170' U.S. :t 191' U.S. :t225' U.S.
Elevation: :t63' :t45' :t42' :t39' :t45'
Excavation

Each sinkhole was expanded and deepened by excavation to bedrock. The excavation
work was ,performed using a' Caterpillar 215 BLC backhoe, with the assistance of
manual labor for final cleaning of the fractured bedrock surface. The sinkholes were
excavated to,depths ranging from 8 to 16 feet with stable side-slopes. The excavated
area of the sinkholes at the ground surface ranged from about 30 x 30 feet to 50 x 50
feet. Sinkhole''#l,(approximately 8 feet deep) was completed in original ground
and/or native soils placed as blanket material down to fractured sandstone.
