<br />") <br /> <br />(5) New backwash pump basin and new 900 gpm backwash <br />pump to preclude taking the entire plant out of <br />service when a backwash pump must be repaired. <br /> <br />(6) New waste washwater basin to collect waste <br />washwater from filters and recycle it back to head <br />of flocculation basins. <br /> <br />(7) New chemical feed room and system for liquid alum, <br />liquid cationic polymer, dry polymer, sodium <br />hydroxide, hydrofluosilicic acid, powdered <br />activated carbon, and potassium permanganate. <br /> <br />(8) Three new sludge lagoons west of their present <br />location which will be occupied by a treated water <br />reservoir. <br /> <br />(9) Two new flocculation basins with provision for <br />expansion to 42 mgd when need arises. <br /> <br />(10) Two sedimentation basins. <br /> <br />(11) Modificaton of the existing equalization basin on <br />the Colorado River water supply (pumping) system <br />so that it may serve as a pre sedimentation basin <br />for removing the high suspended solids from the <br />turbid Colorado River water supply. <br /> <br />(12) Conversion of the existing reaction tank to serve <br />the dual purposes of storage of powdered activated <br />carbon slurry and housing of the activated carbon <br />feeders. <br /> <br />(13) New instrumentation and controls for the entire <br />plant to be electronic equipment. <br /> <br />(14) A new computer-based data logger for display and <br />storaqe of information, computing capability, and <br />alarm functions. <br /> <br />The proposed water treatment plant, which is going <br />to be a repair of the existing 10-million-gallon-per- <br />day (10 mgd) treatment plant will be located <br />approximately three miles northeast from Palisade <br />on a tract of land 31.33 acres more or less, owned <br />by the District in Lot 1 and Lot 9, Section 2, <br />T11S, R98W, 6th Principal Meridian, all as shown <br />in Appendix B. <br /> <br />g. A ten-million-gallon water storage tank with all <br />appurtenances, including yard piping, to be located at <br />the water treatment plant site described above. <br /> <br />6. Permit periodic inspection of construction by authorized <br />representatives of the S~ate during and after construction. <br /> <br />7. Without expense to the State, manage, operate, and <br />maintain the project system continuously in an efficient and <br />economical manner, and assume all legal liability for such <br />management, operation, and maintenance. The Contractor shall <br />maintain general liability insurance covering its management, <br />operation, and maintenance of the project system until it has <br />completed purchase of the project system from the State in at <br />least the following amounts: <br /> <br />a.
