The Board has received previous memos dated <br />January 11, 1994 and September 13, 1994 concerning the District's interest in studying transit losses <br />and travel times on the Purgatoire River, <br /> <br />At this meeting the Board will consider the PRWCD's formal request (Danielson letter, dated <br />October 14, 1994, copy attached) for financial participation by the Board in the study, The Board <br />is being asked to recommend inclusion of $60,000 of funding for this study in the 1995 <br />Construction Fund bill. <br /> <br />Background: <br /> <br />The Board previously considered background inforJllation on the PRWCD's interest in the study, and <br />the benefits to the State that may derive from a comprehensive determination of transit times and <br />losses on the Purgatoire River between Trinidad Lake and the' Arkansas River. <br /> <br />The transit loss/travel time study will be conducted by the USGS in two phases. The first phase, <br />currently in progress, will use existing data and previous studies to estimate stream flow losses <br />lil>sociated with Trinidad Lake releases to various points over the 160 miles downstream to the <br />
