.

Feasibility of the Emergency Rehabilitation
of the
Riverside Reservoir & Land Company Diversion Structure

.

Project Sponsor

The Riverside Reservoir and Land Company (RRLC) is a Colorado
mutual ditch and reservoir company and a non-profit corporation.
Articles of Incorporation are included in Appendix A. The RRLC
never adopted any Bylaws for their corporation.

.

The RRLC was formed in April 1902 to construct and operate
Riverside Reservoir and the Riverside Canal for the benefit of
the shareholders. The RRLC was incorporated in 1904. The RRLC
currently has 103 shareholders with 2505 shares of stock. The
Company can divert 1000.0 cubic feet of water per second of time
from the South Platte River, at a headgate located about 4 miles
East of Kersey, Colorado. From this headgate, the RRLC has had
an average annual diversion of 111,000 acre feet or approximately
44 acre feet per share.

Project Service Area

The service area is located primarily in Morgan County, from
about 18 miles West of Fort Morgan to about 18 miles East of Fort
Morgan. Although RRLC water is not tied to specific irrigated
lands, the service area is located on the North side of the South
Platte River in Morgan County. The RRLC system utilizes two
reservoirs to service its shareholders. Riverside Reservoir is
located in Weld County at the beginning of the RRLC system and is
the largest to the two reservoirs. Vancil Reservoir is the
smaller reservoir located towards the end of the RRLC system in
Eastern Morgan County. The RRLC service area irrigates on the
average 50,000 acres. The water is typically used to irrigate
corn, alfalfa, beans, and sugar beets. The elevation is 4543
feet.
