I unders tand tha t we are borrowi ng some <br />money from Key Bank until we begin to collect the March assessment. <br /> <br />The ditch company was informally organized in 1873, the year of our <br />appropriation. The early history of the ditch is lost in antiquity, but <br />it is fairly well documented that we actually became a corporation, with <br />'shares of stock, in 1885. The initial Stock Book purports to begin on <br />June 20, 1885 ,with the issuance of 48 Certificates. The number of <br />shares is not important, as we totally rF.!-organized with a dissolution <br />of the initial corporation and the re-incorporation in 1915, resulting <br />in the March 2, 1915 CERTIFICATE OF INCORPORATION (enclosed), by thp. <br />three incorporators, E. M. Gillett, W. B. Giacomini and S. V. Cheairs. <br />This was recorded in our Clerk's office on May 17, 1915. and is the only' <br />thing of record here regarding our ditch. <br /> <br />The 1915 re-incorporation established the 1,290 shares which we <br />presently have. I know of my own knowledge that The Sterling Irrigation <br />Company has been consistently in uninterrupted good standing from 1915 <br />to the present.
