The ditch structure will consist of two new radial gates.
Each radial gate will be 10 feet wide and 5 feet high. The
gates will be built with a common concrete headwall. This
headwall will protect the gates during times of high river
flow.

These features are shown in the preliminary set of plans found in
Appendix B.

.

Water Riqhts

There are 88 shareholders in the SIC with rights to divert 113.9
cfs from the South Platte River under a river call of July 1873.
The SIC decree was adjudicated November 15, 1894 and was
appropriated July 15, 1873. The official name on the decree is
STERLING IRRIGATION COMPANY DITCH 1.

.

The SIC diverted a total of 16,107 acre feet in 1995, 18,971 acre
feet in 1996, and 18,943 acre feet in 1997, according to State
Engineer records. The average diversion for the past 48 years is
23,563 acre feet. Yearly diversions for the SIC would be
considered inconsistent. The main reason for this inconsistency
is that in years when the sand dam washed out sufficient amounts
of water can not be diverted. The S.E.O. diversion records are
found in Appendix C.

Cost Estimate

.

The estimated total project cost is $358,981. Project planning
and engineering design will be provided by Jack Odor of GASP.

Item

Estimated Cost

Total Cost

$ 15,528
$338,453

$353,981

1.
