"

.

.

.

geotechnical laboratory reports

- analyzed results of the aquifer performance tests

. All data will be maintained in database format and provided to the State in a format that
meets the DSS database standards being developed by another consultant.

. The Report will be provided in draft form for State comment. Following resolution of
comments, six paper copies and a CD-ROM containing the TM in both MS-WORD and
Adobe Acrobat POF format will be provided as the final deliverable.

Task 36: Construction and Testing of Bedrock Wells

Objective:

The objective of this task is to construct and test I well that will provide hydrogeologic data for
the bedrock ground water system in the Denver Basin Region.

Comment:

Preliminary aquifer testing of newly constructed bedrock wells will be performed in this task as a
standard course of constructing a well. Aquifer parameters determined at the pumping well are
often impacted by well inefficiencies and other factors. Therefore a standard aquifer pumping test
(including a pumping well and one or more observation wells) is expected to be performed in
subsequent phases of the SPOSS development to provide more refined information on aquifer
properties.

Approach:

Task 36.1 Bedrock Well Construction and Testing
This Phase I program will including the installation, testing and monitoring of I well up to 400
feet deep, completed in one of the Denver Basin Region bedrock aquifers. This task will
commence after the State provides written approval the Field Study Workplan (Task 33).

· Locations for drilling of new wells will be located on public right-of"way and accessible
for the duration of the drilling and monitoring. Sites will be selected that do not require
significant grading for road construction or drilling. Any access fees will be paid directly
by the State. The State will be consulted if drilling cannot be done on public right of ways.

· Approved site locations will be staked in the field and cleared for drilling by a commercial
utility locating service.

· The Consultant will apply for monitoring well pennits, and will prepare a bid package
consisting of well design, technical specifications, and contract documents for well
drilling, sampling, logging, testing, and completion.

. Drilling and well installation will be sub-contracted to a qualified drilling contractor who
is licensed for this work in the State of Colorado. Well contractors submitting bids on the
work will be required to obtain a performance bond for the well construction work.

SPOSS Groundwater SOW, Phase I

Page 23
