The Articles ofIncorporation and By-laws
are included in Appendix A. The corporation has 15 members.
The Delta Canal Company was formed in 1889 for the purpose
of operating and maintaining the canal that receives water from the
Uncompahgre River and is used to control runoff and return the water
to the river.

Project Service Area
The service area for the Delta Canal Company is located in
Delta County, one mile south of Delta along 1600 Rd. to the
Uncompahgre River. The water is used to produce corn, alfalfa,
beans, and wheat. See attached map. (No Land Owned)

Need for Project
The Delta Canal Company is undertaking this project in order
to more efficiently deliver water to 15 members on the lateral and
control salinity, drainage, and flooding. The existing ditch is made of
dirt. The ditch looses a significant amount of water annually to seepage.
We also have problems with our canal banks sloughing off.

pg.6
