a. General. Water conservation was listed as a program applicable to all
alternatives (Chapter ll). If a water conservation program is
implemented and historical consumption is reduced, projections of future
water use must be adjusted accordingly. Therefore, a first step is to
compare Palisade's water use with other communities in similar climates
and socio-economic settin!!S to see if water conservation is applicable.

b. Comparison With Other C'ommunities. The table below compares daily
per capita water use in Palisade with selected communities in western
Colorado and Utah:

The average day and maximum day water use in Palisade is
relatively high as compared to other similar type communities. The
median value for a community in western Colorado with metered
water and which does not have a supplemental irrigation system has
been estimated to be about 400 gpcd on the maximum day, and
about 150 gpcd ave~e year round. In those communities which
have supplemental irrigation systems for their residents, maximum
day and average day uses will be less than the median values listed
above.

c. Sources of High Consum\)tion. Water usage is a combination of
residential, commercial, industrial and public water uses. The tabulation
below shows a breakdowl) of the different types of taps within the
Town of Palisade for the total service area.
