~

TASK NO.: 6
RFP CROSS-REFERENCE:
Step 2, Item {2}

STAFF MEMBERS RESPONSIBLE:
Hydrologist
System Operation Studies Specialist
qam Evaluation Specialist

..

TASK TITLE;

Estimate of E"cess Water Supplies in the Overland Ditch and Reservoir
System Available for Transbasin Diversion.

RATIONALE:

To estimate the gross inflows available for diversion by the Overland Ditch
and Reservoir system and the resulting water supplies excess to the demands'
of the sys'tem and potentiaJly available for transbasin diversion to' the Surface
Creek basin a computer simulation of the hydrologic operation of the system
must be conducted.

METHODOLOGY:

1. Evaluate the results of. Task No. 5 to determine whether excess water
supplies are available under existing operation of the OyerIand Ditch and
Reservoir system and/or whether additional water could be made available
through. improved management, if opportunities for such were identified, for
diversion to the Surface Creek basin.

2. Review the physical storage restrictions presently imposed on Overland Dam
by the State Engineer and the status of proposed reconstruction or replace-
ment of the dam on the basis of information obtained in Sub-Task No. 5.6.

3. Determine the r110st probable future plan for Overland barn, viz. its operating
capacity and location.

4. Prepare a compllter simulation model of the Hubbard Creek and Muddy Creek
basins and operate for the 15-year study period on a monthly basis" under the
proposed future operating conditions to determine the gross water supplies
available to the Overland Ditch and Reservoir ~ystem.

5.. Combine and evaluate the results of Steps I and ,4 above with regard to
supplies required for utilization in the Overland Ditch system under the
selected level of improved management identified in Task No.5 to estimate
the g~oss water supplies available for diversion to the Surface Cre~k basin.
