I

I

B. Revenue Sources

I

I

The Brook Forest Water District receives revenues from five major sources.

These sources of income and the current rates are explained below:

I

1. Water Service Charges - A quarterly flat rate charge is assessed for

waCer service to each tap. The proposed rate for 1980 is $90.00 per quarter

or $360.00 per year.

I

I

2. Connection Fees - The current fee for initial connection to the water

system is $2,500.00. During moratorium periods, this source of revenue is not.

available to the district. Additional taps are issued only when the board

determines that adequate water supplies are available. It is expected that this

revenue source is to become more dependable at such time when the district's

plan of augmentation is approved.and additional raw water supplies are secured.

I

I

I

3. System Development Fee - This fee is charged to properties requesting

water service which require significant development of facilities by the district.

For instance, new wells, storage tanks, and distribution lines may be required

to serve a new filing within the district. The water development fee is intended

to reduce the impact on the existing water supply system of providing service

expansions. Water development fees are currently set at $1,500.00 per tap.

I

I

I

4. Readiness to Serve Charge ~ When a connecti~n can be made to the district's

water distribution system, but improvements have not been constructed on a pro-

perty, a readiness to serve charge is made. The current rate is $20.00 per

quarter or $80.00 per year.

I

I

I

5. Property Taxes - The district levies property taxes which are proposed

to be at 34.28 mils for 1980. The current (1979) assessed valuation of proper-

ties in the district is $1,670,210 according to the Jefferson County assessor's

office. This source of revenues; based on the 1979 assessed valuation, and

the proposed 1980 mill levy; will generate an approximate revenue of $57,254.

I

I

I

-10-
