The USGS has budgeted
$900,000 over three years for this project. A similar study of Denver Metro Area Shallow Aquifers
was recently completed.

The proposed study will focus on the area between the Boulder-Jefferson county line on the
south and to just north of Fort Collins on the north. The results of the study will be published as a
series of map reports. The maps will show the elevation and thickness of the unconsolidated
sediments above bedrock, elevation and depth of the water table, direction of ground water
movement, and ground water quality. A copy of the Project Proposal is attached to this memo.
