The interim alternative plans selected

were:

Avery
Miller Creek
Sawmill Mountain
Steeley
Warner Point
Powell Park-Lost Park
Ripple-Lost Park-Little Beaver
Avery, M&I-only

The two- and three-reservoir plans were included in order to illustrate the
cost difference between single and multiple reservoir plans. The interim
analysis on the above plans included the preliminary design of intake,
storage, and delivery systems, and preliminary cost estimates. The M&I-only
plan was included to determine the incremental cost of the irrigation
component.

Intake and Storage Systems
Intake facilities are required to convey water to reservoirs on tributaries
of the White River. The intake works generally include diversion oams and
pipelines or canals to carry the water to the reservoirs.

Reservoir sizing for each alternative was accomplished by estimating the
dead and inactive storage capacity requirements at each site. The active
capacity was assumed to be 55,000 acre-feet for all plans. The surcharge
capacity was estimated from the peak flood taken from general flood
estimating curves.

IV-3
