Clyde Consultants

5.5 DRAINAGE

In addition to the replacement of the embankment above the outlet works on Douglas
Dam one existing toe drain will be modified and one additional toe drain will be
installed in the embankment. The existing drain located at the downstream toe along
the left side of the embankment will be extended further left approximately 100 feet.
The other existing toe drain along the right side of the embankment will remain as it is.
The new drain will be constructed along the downstream toe approximately 150 feet
either side of the existing outlet pipe in the center portion of the embankment which
presently does not have a toe drain. Drainage from the drain constructed along the
downstream toe above the outlet works will discharge on the south side of the outlet
structure wing wall adjacent to the south toe drain discharge. Drainage from this toe
drain can be monitored separately from the southern and northern toe drains.

5.6 SEDIMENTATION

The Windsor Reservoir Canal Company is currently evaluating the feasibility of
removing the existing sediments in the area of the inlet structure. Removal of the
existing sediments would provide additional sedimentation storage.

5.7 RIGHT-OF.WAY

The rehabilitation options considered for Douglas Dam do not require the acquisition
of additional property or right-of-way easements.

22539G/DDUGLAS.DAM 12.17.90/REPORTS3

27
