<br />I <br />I <br />I <br />I <br />I <br />I <br />I <br />I <br />I <br />I <br />I <br />I <br />I <br />I <br />I <br />I <br />I <br />I <br />I <br /> <br />Woodward.Clyde Consultants <br /> <br />2.0 <br />WINDSOR RESERVOIR AND CANAL COMPANY <br /> <br />2.1 HISTORY OF THE ORGANIZATION <br /> <br />The Windsor Reservoir and Canal Company was incorporated May 1, 1890 under the <br />laws of the State of Colorado as a Colorado nonprofit corporation. One of the first <br />projects of the company was construction of Windsor Reservoir which began in July <br />1890. Thompson Reservoir was subsequently constructed downstream of Windsor <br />Reservoir. Later purchases by the company include the February 1911 purchase of #8, <br />#8 Annex, and Elder reservoirs from the Divide Canal and Reservoir Company and the <br />purchase of Douglas Reservoir, Cobb Lake and the Larimer-Poudre Canal in 1936. In <br />1937 the Water Tunnel Company was formed in conjunction with the Water Supply and <br />Storage Company. The Windsor Reservoir and Canal Company owns a one-third interest <br />in the Water Tunnel Company which diverts water from the Laramie River (coming out <br />of Chambers Lake) into the Cache LaPoudre River. <br /> <br />The Windsor Reservoir and Canal Company presently has seven reservoirs in its <br />holdings. The company office is located in Eaton, Colorado in Weld County. The <br />company owns about 25 miles of ditch known as the Poudre Valley Canal extending <br />from about Ted's Place to Cobb Lake.
