4.4.2

Right-of-Way for Dam and Reservoir Basin

The maj ority of the dam and reservoir basin lies on land owned by
Macht Ranch, Inc. Since this land is important to the Macht's ranching
operation, it was assumed that only land encompassed by a 300-foot
horizontal boundary beyond the normal water surface would be obtained for
the project. The total private acreage to be obtained is 95 acres based on
a 2,900 acre-foot reservoir. Approximately 97 acres of Forest Service land
would be required.

4.4.3

Canal Right-of-Way

Approximately 4,200-feet of canal would be enlarged. This enlargement
would extend from the diversion structure in Turkey Creek to the headwaters
of Snowball Creek. Once the flow enters Snowball Creek, the remaining
distance to the reservoir depends on gravity flow. Approximately
1,OOO-feet of the canal is located on Macht Ranch Inc.' s, property. In
addition to the canal, a maintenance right-of-way for access to the canal
and along the creek bed to the reservoir should be obtained. If a 30-foot
wide easement is purchased, the total acreage for access and the canal is
2.4 acres.
