The Cortez pipeline was competitively bid, with specifications allowing either ductile iron or modified pretensioned cylinder steel pipe. The lowest bid utilized modified pretensioned cylinder pipe. The 24-inch and 30-inch diameter pipeline was sized to deliver the TO\~aoc and Cortez supplies as far as the Cortez treatment plant. The Bureau's preliminary alignment for the Towaoc pipeline traversed west from the Cortez water treatment plant, then south along Mildred Road and south and west along county roads to the intersection of State Highway 666. From there the route followed along the highway to the Tribe's reservation boundary. The pipeline route then crossed the reservation in a due west direction to the existing storage facilities. None of the Towaoc pipeline alignment alternatives was finalized nor was any right-of-way acquired for eventual construction. 1.5 Related Agreements Whil e previ ous i nvesti gati on and p1 anni nq st'Jdi es for the no10res Project included provisions for the Towaoc municipal pipeline, the present basis for proceedi ng wi th the project is the combi nati on of agreements and fundi nq authorizations relating to settlement of the Ute Indian water right claims in eo10rado.
