The Articles of
Incorporation and Bylaws are included in Appendix A. The Company
has 39 total shareholders, and 440 shares of stock.

HLDC was formed in 1905 for the purpose of operating and
maintaining the Hawkeye Lateral Ditch that receives water from
the Grand Valley Canal.

Project Service Area

The service area for the Hawkeye Lateral Ditch is located in Mesa
County, approximately 2.5 miles northeast of the Town of Fruita.
It includes approximately 630 acres north of the Colorado River,
at an elevation of about 4600 feet. The Hawkeye Lateral Ditch is
approximately 12,000 feet in length, and water is used to produce
alfalfa hay, corn, winter wheat and sod. See map on page 2.

Need for the Project

The HLDC is undertaking this project in order to more efficiently
deliver water to 39 shareholders on the lateral. The existing
ditch is made of concrete, and is severely deteriorated. The
ditch looses a significant amount of water annually to seepage,
in an area of high soil salinity. Because of its poor condition,
the lateral can not deliver water to all shareholders.
