Purpose

The purpose cf the Cone Reservoir Feasibility Study is to

determ:l.ne the design requirements for enlarging the existing Cone

~rvoir to hold approximately 4,000 acre-feet of additional

~city, and to determine construction costs, manner of operation,

and method of repayment.

B. Level. of Investigation

This will be a complete feasibility study performed in

sufficient detail ~c provide lIccurate cost estimates and repayment

schedules. as well as providil).g sufficient geologic and hydrologic

information to initiate discussions with the State Engineer regarding

preferred design cc=figuration.

C. Previous Work

The San Miguel Water Conservancy District has committed

approximately $30,000 in advancing the proposed Cone Reservoir

Enlargement to its current status. These expenditures have provided:

1. A reconnaissance level evaluation of. various high level

reservoir sites and improvement plans, and the determination

that Cone Reservoir reptesents the most cost effective and

practical first stage development.

2. Preliminary water supply lInalysis.

3. Aerial photography of .dam and reservoir area and the preparation
of detailed topographic Illaps at a 5 foot contour interval for
the reservoir and at a 2 foot interval for the dam.

4. Two core holes on the right abutment and preliminary geologic
appraisal.

-1-
