Water Use

Water stored in the two Santa Maria Reservoir Company (SrmC)
reservoirs is reserved for stockholders of the company and may be used
for irrigation purposes only (groundwater recharge is also permitted).
The water is usually released from storage in July and August to
"finish crop irrigation" when the Rio Grande River unregulated flow
diminishes. Earlier in the irrigation season, S~lRC stockholders uti-
1 ize diverted flow from the Rio Grande River under the adjudicated
diversion rights of the Rio Grande and Monte Vista Canals.

Usually, all available inflow into the reservoirs is stored during

the period November through March, and at other times under the adju-

dicated storage rights.

C.
