Trash racks surround the struc-
ture and consist of 3/4 inch steel pipe grating.

The outlet valve tower is approximately 95 feet high and is
located along the outl et conduit on the upstream side of the embank-
ment crest. The tower is 4.3 feet by 4.3 feet square at the embank-
ment crest but increases to 6 feet by 10 feet at its base. The valve
tower also encloses the gate chamber, which includes two 3 foot by 3
foot high pressure gate valves, two 3 inch vent pipes per gate, and a
hydraulic lift apparatus. The valve operating equipment is protected
by a wooden framed gate house on the dam crest.

The outlet conduit is approximately 5.5 feet high, 4 feet wide,
and is horseshoe shaped. Concrete collars are spaced at 25 foot
intervals upstream and 50 foot intervals downstream of the gate
chamber. The original conduit was 446 feet long.

2. Subsequent Activities

Ouri ng the fall of 1960, the outl et conduit wa s extended 54 feet
downstream. A reinforced concrete headwall was constructed at the
downstream end adjacent to the stilling basin of the spillway.
Additional fill material was added to the downstream face, brought up
on a 4 horizontal to 1 vertical slope from the new headwall back to
the dam face. A toe drain outlet was also provided in the headwall.
The conduit addition is reinforced concrete, 72 inches in diameter and

1-3
