The crest is at ele-
vation 10,290 feet. The upstream slope is riprapped and the design
slopes are 2.5 horizontal to 1 vertical (2.5H:IV) above elevation
10,270 and 3H:1V for the remainder. The designed do~mstream slope is
2.5H:1V and is also partially covered with medium to large rocks.
Details of Continental Dam are shown on Figure 1-2, and the area capa-
city curve is given in Figure 1-3.

The spi 11 way is a 495-foot long rei nforced concrete structure
located at the right abutment contact. The spillway crest, a 140-foot
long side spill weir perpendicular to the dam crest, is at an eleva-
tion of 10,279, or about 11 feet below the crest of the dam. Spills
drop immediately into a concrete channel chute which varies in shape.
Upstream of the dam crest the spillway is trapezoidal in shape with 45
degree side slopes, and the bottom width varies between 10 and 20
feet. The spillway transitions to a rectangular shape at the dam crest
and the bottom wi dth varies between 12 and 20 feet. The spillway
chute is provided with cutoff walls through the embankment crest. A
concrete slab stilling basin dissipates energy at the bottom of the
spillway chute.

The outlet works is located beneath the embankment approximately
100 feet from the spillway structure. The outlet works consists of a
reinforced concrete intake, a reinforced concrete conduit, and a rein-
forced concrete valve tower.

1-2

i
.J
