Davis No.1 Dam) <br /> <br />Proiect SDonsor <br /> <br />The Boulder and left Hand Irrigation Company (the Ditch Company) is a Colorado Mutual Ditch <br />Company and a Non-Profit Corporation. The Articles of Incorporation and Bylaws' are included in <br />Appendix A. <br /> <br />The Boulder and left Hand Irrigation Company acquired the Boulder and left Hand Ditch Company <br />in March 1921, The Boulder and left Hand Ditch Company had been operating the ditch system <br />since approximately 1873. <br /> <br />The Ditch Company shares a common diversion dam, headgate, and augmentation facility with the <br />Boulder and White Rock Ditch Company and North Boulder Farmers Ditch Company to divert water <br />from Boulder Creek, The diversion dam, headgate, and augmentation structure are located on the <br />north bank of Boulder Creek near 12th and Broadway in Boulder, Colorado, The three companies <br />share a common ditch for approximately two-thirds of a mile before the Boulder and White Rock Ditch <br />separates from the Boulder and Left Hand and North Boulder Farmers Ditch at approximately 21st and <br />Canyon. The Boulder and Left Hand and North Boulder Farmers share a ditch for approximately 1,5 <br />miles before they separate near the Foothills Parkway, The Boulder and Left Hand Ditch then <br />generally flows in a northeasterly direction (approximately 14 miles) before emptying into Dry Creek <br />near U,S, 287, The Ditch Company also owns and operates Twin lakes (a,k,a, Davis Reservoir Nos, 1 <br />and 2) and Hayden Reservoir, <br /> <br />Twin Lakes consists of two dams separated by the Boulder and White Rock Ditch, Davis No, 1, the <br />eastern of the two lakes, has an earthfill dam composed of on-site materials, with imported, hand- <br />placed riprap on the upstream slope, The outlet works for Davis No, 1 consists of an existing 62-foot <br />long, 30-inch diameter corrugated metal pipe (CMP), an upstream low-pressure slide gate, and <br />downstream concrete outlet ditch, Davis No, 1 Reservoir has a listed surface area and normal capacity <br />of 16 acres and 137 acre-feet, respectively, <br /> <br />Twin Lakes are used as an equalizer for direct flow deliveries within the ditch system and to <br />supplement direct flow deliveries during the irrigation season, Hayden Reservoir is used as a <br />supplemental water suppiy to irrigators, <br /> <br />Proiect Service Area <br /> <br />The service area of the Ditch Company includes approximately 2,000 acres of farm land in Boulder <br />County as estimated in 1979, Irrigated crops consist of corn, alfalfa, grains, pinto beans, beets, and <br />pasture grass, <br /> <br />Revised in 1980, <br /> <br />-1- <br /> <br />~ <br />
